What is Plurality?
Plurality is the experience of having more than one distinct consciousness, personas, or identity sharing one single body. Plurality itself does not imply distress or disorder, simply offering the broadest definition to include the spectrum of its manifestation. It is related to the concept of switching[1], and the dissociative symptoms of identity alteration, and identity confusion[2].
Switching is the experience of identity change in a plural person.
Identity Alteration is the shift in one's feeling of identity/behavior over time.
Identity Confusion is the feeling of not having internal consistency, or acting outside of one's character.
A person who experiences plurality is known as a Plural. At its simplest definition, it means a person who has a multitude of persons within them[3]. Plurality has its own spectrum, capable of describing multiple different states of multiplicity to compare to singlethood. Being a singlet is the exact opposite of being a system/plural/collective, where one is in complete harmony with their identity, and hold only one single sense of self[4].
Diagnosable Disorders
As mentioned in the dissociation page, there's a multitude of disorders that are technically a form of plurality.
Basic Terminology
Lorem ipsum is placeholder text commonly used in the graphic, print, and publishing industries for previewing layouts and visual mockups.
From its medieval origins to the digital era, learn everything there is to know about the ubiquitous lorem ipsum passage.
Lorem ipsum, or lipsum as it is sometimes known, is dummy text used in laying out print, graphic or web designs.
The passage is attributed to Letraset, a popular manufacturer of dry transfer sheets for text and other design elements.
Roles & Functions
The purpose of lorem ipsum is to create a natural looking block of text (sentence, paragraph, page, etc.) that doesn't distract from the layout.
A practice not without controversy, laying out pages with meaningless filler text can be very useful when the focus is meant to be on design, not content.
Today it's seen all around the web; on templates, websites, and stock designs.
